Membership Terms and Conditions
Effective from: Wednesday 22nd October 2025
1. About us and acceptance
1.1 These Membership Terms and Conditions govern your participation in the membership services operated by UK Start Now CIC (“UK Start Now”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
1.2 By registering for a Free Membership or purchasing an Active Member Subscription, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
2. Definitions
Member means a person or entity that holds a current UK Start Now Membership.
UK Start Now WhatsApp Community means the community operated by UK Start Now on WhatsApp, which currently consists of several WhatsApp groups managed by us.
UK Start Now Mailing List means the official mailing list operated by UK Start Now.
UK Start Now Events means events organised and delivered by UK Start Now, whether online or in person.
Referrals means business introductions made by UK Start Now between members, or between a member and a third party.
Membership means either the Free Membership or the Active Member Subscription offered under these Terms.
3. Membership options
3.1 We offer:
(a) Free Membership.
(b) Active Member Subscription.
4. Membership benefits
4.1 Free Membership includes:
(a) Access to selected UK Start Now Events as advertised from time to time.
(b) Access to the UK Start Now WhatsApp Community.
(c) Inclusion on the UK Start Now Mailing List.
4.2 Active Member Subscription includes, in addition to the above:
(a) Eligibility to receive Referrals via email where appropriate to your business or services.
(b) As part of the Active Member Subscription, you will receive a featured listing on actively used UK Start Now event pages via Eventbrite, which may include your business name and a link to your website.
(c) Access to general business support by emailing support@ukstartnow.com. We will use reasonable efforts to respond within a reasonable time frame.
5. Eligibility and member obligations
5.1 Membership is offered solely for business purposes. By joining you confirm that you act in the course of a business or profession, that you are at least 18 years old, and that you are authorised to bind the business you represent.
5.2 All Members must act courteously and professionally within the UK Start Now WhatsApp Community and at UK Start Now Events. Posts must be lawful, relevant and respectful.
5.3 Messages in the UK Start Now WhatsApp Community should be sent between 07:00 and 23:00 United Kingdom time.
5.4 Members are responsible for their own due diligence. You must independently assess any lead, opportunity, or third party before engaging.
5.5 Members on an Active Member Subscription must respond to Referral or introduction emails within 24 hours of receipt to maintain professionalism and trust.
6. Fees and payment
6.1 Active Member Subscription fee:
6.2 Fees are payable by GoCardless as a one-off payment at the point of purchase for the relevant term.
6.3 All payments are final and non-refundable, except where required by law.
6.4 Memberships are provided on a business-to-business basis.
7. Duration, renewal and cancellation
7.1 Free Membership continues until cancelled by you or by us under these Terms.
7.2 An Active Member Subscription runs only for the term purchased (12 months). Subscriptions are processed as one-off payments through GoCardless and do not automatically renew.
7.3 Because subscriptions are paid in advance for the fixed term, no refund will be issued if you decide to end your membership before the term expires.
7.4 You may request at any time that your details be removed from the UK Start Now WhatsApp Community, the UK Start Now Mailing List, and our event listings. We will action such requests in line with data protection law.
7.5 On cancellation or expiry of your subscription, your access to membership benefits will cease.
8. Changes to services and these Terms
8.1 We may make changes to Membership benefits, our platform, or these Terms.
8.2 For material changes, we will use reasonable efforts to provide at least 14 days’ notice by email, via the UK Start Now WhatsApp Community, or by another reasonable method.
8.3 Minor or administrative changes may take effect immediately.
9. Referrals and introductions
9.1 Referrals are discretionary. We do not guarantee that any Referral or introduction will be made.
9.2 We do not guarantee outcomes. We do not warrant that any Referral, introduction, or Event will result in sales, revenue, or any specific commercial result.
9.3 We are not a party to and have no responsibility for any negotiations, contracts, payments, or disputes between Members or between a Member and a third party.
10. Events
10.1 Attendance at UK Start Now Events may be subject to separate event terms and venue policies. If there is a conflict, the event terms will apply to the extent of the conflict.
10.2 We may change, postpone, or cancel an Event. Where practicable, we will give reasonable notice.
11. Intellectual property and publicity
11.1 All intellectual property rights in our branding, content, and materials remain owned by UK Start Now or its licensors. Members must not copy, reproduce, or use them without prior written consent. Use of our name or logo in advertising, promotion, or any misleading way is strictly prohibited.
11.2 By joining as a Member on an Active Member Subscription, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use your trading name, logo, and website link to list you as a member and to feature you on our Eventbrite event pages. You may withdraw this licence at any time by giving us written notice, in which case we will remove the listing within a reasonable time.
12. Data and privacy
12.1 We will handle personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law, including the United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation.
12.2 Members agree that contact details provided to us may be added to the UK Start Now Mailing List. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time. We may still send service messages that are necessary for your Membership.
13. Suspension
13.1 We may suspend access to any benefit if we reasonably believe that you have breached these Terms or our community rules, or where required for operational, security, or legal reasons.
14. Termination
14.1 We may terminate your Membership immediately if you materially breach these Terms or our community rules, or if required by law.
14.2 On termination, all rights and benefits under your Membership will cease. No refund is due for any unexpired period, except where required by law.
15. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
15.1 The Membership is provided with reasonable skill and care. Subject to clause 15.3 we exclude all implied terms to the fullest extent permitted by law.
15.2 Subject to clause 15.3 our total aggregate liability to you arising out of or in connection with the Membership in any twelve-month period will not exceed the fees you have paid to us for the Active Member Subscription in that period. If you hold only a Free Membership, our liability is limited to £100.
15.3 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
16. Severability and waiver
16.1 If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
16.2 A failure or delay by us in enforcing any provision will not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other provision.
17. Governing law and jurisdiction
17.1 These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
17.2 The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction.
